Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….
The Rufous-Tailed Flycatcher (Myiarchus validus) is a large flycatcher that is endemic to Jamaica, measuring about 10 inches in length. Locally it is known as "Big Tom Fool", because it is unconcerned by observers, making extended conspicuous visits. It is recognized by its distinctive rufous wings and long tail, rounded brown head with a crest, large pinkish bill, and yellow underparts. Its preferred habitat is at middle and high elevations in the mountains and on wooded hills. Its preferred diet includes insects and berries. It is a fairly common resident throughout Jamaica.
This endemic Rufous-tailed Flycatcher perched on a branch was photographed in Jamaica, West Indies, on 2-15-2012. I used a Nikon D7000 camera body and a Nikon 300mm f/2.8 VR2 lens to capture this image. Settings: 1/250 sec, f/6.3, ISO 1250
I am honored that my photograph was featured in the Fine Art America groups:
A Birding Group - Wings, 11-27-2017
FAA Portraits - Birds, 11-28-2017
Thank you for your interest in my photographs. My passion for birding and nature has taken me outdoors almost daily whether home in the USA, or on trips in East Africa, Israel, the Caribbean, and Brazil. I've been fortunate enough to have seen and photographed over 1000 species of birds, and I get a lot of satisfaction when I'm able to capture a beautiful and interesting shot and share it with others. I've had the honor of my bird photos recognized in prestigious competitions including "The Top One Hundred" of the Audubon Photo Contest, the "Honored Top 40" of the Nature's Best Backyards Photography Contest, and included in the "Nature's Witness" exhibition of 47 nature photographs (selected from 22,000 entries to the National Wildlife...
