There's long been a rivalry between Mobile (Alabama) and New Orleans, Louisiana about which one has the oldest Mardi Gras. Mobile has long staked that claim as our own being the original, the Birthplace of Mardi Gras - as stated here on one of 2018's Conde Cavaliers' floats in Mobile! This is a color invert of the original photograph.
Although I have no formal training in photography, I have always enjoyed taking pictures. Photography has been a hobby for over 30 years: from the simplicity of a tele-instamatic camera, to learning the intricacies of the more challenging 35mm. I explored 35mm low light photography at Mardi Gras parades with my dad's old Argus camera which had no light attachment. Also used it on vacations, still getting by without any light attachment - the camera was so old an attachment could no longer be purchased for it, if it in deed was ever available. Later, I purchased a Yashica 35GSN and had the ability to use external lighting with it. Eventually I added an APS camera to the mix and in recent years have gone digital. I have truly enjoyed the...
