Love it.
This is a section of the seating in the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens. The stadium was built for the first modern Olympic Games, which took place in 1896. The stadium is built entirely of marble, which includes the seating. I'm not sure if they handed out cushions for those seats but a long day of watching the sporting events could have made even the most ardent less comfortable than they might have liked. ;-) What I love about this image is the abstraction, the curves intersected by the diagonal recesses for the stairs. Apparently, the stadium has a maximum capacity of 50,000 seated individuals, which is the same as the ancient stadium upon whose ruins it was built.
