This is an image of the pagan deity lord of the hunt, death, winter, endtime, dark half of the year and the winter soltice which the winter god promises us will usher in the return of fire / heat and light as the celestial sun is reborn and now grows stronger in power and light, heat and in days length which he then will reappear as his reborn other self at that time as the youthful newborn infant representing the years renewed lengthened sunlight and the comming of the dominance of light starting May 1st ( Beltaine ) at which time he is a verile young mature male adult. The Dark half of the years Lord rules from Nov. 1st ( Samhaine / Halloween ) till May 1st ( Beltaine ). He is also seen as the guide in death when souls transition from life to death to rebirth. His name is many throughout many lands, Cernunnos, Father time, Odin, Lord of the hunt, Hades, Loki, Kronos, Set, etc.
