my wife's best friend once said "She can't be bamboozled" and it has been a source of laughter for years. This was the best happy nothing day gift and she wore it the next day to teach high school . Her teenage class had no idea what it meant which she loved.
The Opera House in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, at 131 West German Street, has a striking facade ... not easily missed as any visitor to the town can tell you. A little history follows:
"As its name suggests, the Opera House, now a nostalgic, intimate performance venue, was built in 1909 as an opera house. Originally owned by Shepherdstown mayor Upton S. Martin, in 1928, the Opera House became the first motion picture theater in West Virginia with sound, enabling it to show the newfangled "talkies." The Opera House was closed for several decades before it was purchased by Pam and Rusty Berry in 1992. After an extensive renovation and careful restoration of the historic building, the Berrys reopened the Opera House and began showing independent and foreign films. They later added new lighting and sound systems to accommodate live musical and theatrical performances. The Opera House is now owned by Lawrence and Julie Cumbo. Welcome! I"m a photographer and digital artist living in the Mid-Atlantic area of the US. Drawing and creating my own little sketchy worlds are some of my earliest memories. Life did what it does and the art fell away, but I reconnected when digital photography was introduced. I enjoy adding to my love of photography by tinkering with computer art programs including Photoshop, Corel Painter, Rebelle and others , though I do not use Ai / Artificial Intelligence. I also love working completely freehand with no photo reference involved. All of which is allowing me to circle back to a semblance of my days of sketching and painting traditionally.
