You are looking at Red On Black by Helena Tiainen. This art is my final design based on Red And Black - An Arrangement With Tension mixed media digital art. In the process of expanding on the Red And Black, I have really noticed how symmetry changes a piece that originally has a lot of tension in it. Symmetrical formations seem to create harmony and balance that does not exist in asymmetrical formations until symmetrical formations are created with these asymmetrical formations. I find this very interesting in many different ways: artistically, philosophically, emotionally and intellectually. I do not mean to imply that asymmetrical formations cannot be harmonious. They most certainly can, if the design is balanced. Nor do I mean to imply that harmony cannot be edgy. It certainly can be. Anyway, what is of great interest to me here is the transformation that takes place when I create symmetry with my originally asymmetrical pieces.
