When I look at this old red barn that I recently digitally enhanced, unforgettable feelings of nostalgia come over me. I am reminded of how much fun it might be for a child to wander into a dilapidated old barn on a sunny summer day and discover a hayloft and ladder, and perhaps a bale of hay along with a few chickens. This would be a perfect place to explore and discover what old farm treasures might be hidden away in some remote corner. The broken windows and missing door would be an open invitation for certain wild birds to find a place in the rafters to build their nests.โฅ

I grew up in the United Kingdom, and immigrated to the USA when I was 19. After attending several different colleges over a number of years, I finally received my BA degree and began teaching children with special needs. However before I got my teaching degree I was a substitute teacher, and got hired to teach art classes in an elementary school in Southern California. The goal of this pilot program was to determine what kind of impact creative expression might have on the academic lives of elementary school students. For six months I taught children how to enhance their drawing and painting skills by providing a nurturing, fun, and supportive environment.
