The print is much darker in person. It looks like an underexposed photo and hard to make out any detail on the bottom half of the print. Paper quality is good. Fast shipping.
Artist's Description
Pigpen was one of the original and a very key member of the Grateful Dead in the early years. Some have often indicated him as the first rap artist. His approach to music and his 15-minute meanderings during a live performance would often, if not always bring the house down from it's rafters. This piece captures Pig playing his beloved keyboards in 1972 - A year before his passing.
About Gayland Morris
Gayland Morris is from Albuquerque, New Mexico and is a visual artist, musician, writer and poet. As a visual artist, Gayland continues his lifelong work with acrylic and ink in an abstract form he calls ImprovArt. Gayland is a graduate of Platt College in San Francisco, where he studied fine art and computer graphics. Gayland moved to Northern California in 1984 and continues to work in the music industry, which has been his profession for over three decades. Painting is more of a necessity for Gayland than it is as an exercise of self expression. "I view art more as a personal stimulus than a reflection of who I am, or just making a statement.
