Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

This is another Van Gogh Inspired piece of mine. It is very difficult to hone in on Van Gogh's technique. His brush strokes are detailed and specific, which calls for tedious brush work. I enjoyed doing this piece, it pushed me past my comfort zone but I am up for challenges.
In my descriptions of my Van Gogh Inspired work I like to write about some of the details of Vincent Van Gogh which some folks may not know.
Van Gogh was a very religious man. He wanted to become a pastor, his family sent him to Amsterdam to study theology. Van Gogh prepared for his entrance exam with his uncle, Johannes Stricker, a respected theologian who published the first "Life of Jesus" in the Netherlands. He failed the exam but later he undertook a three month course at the Vlaamsche Opleidingsschool, a Protestant missionary school. However he failed the entrance exam once again.

Sydne Archambault was born and raised in the Great state of Wyoming. She grew up in a home where art held a presence. Her mother Willie Jordan Misner studied under Birger Sandzen at Bethany College in Lindsberg Kansas. Art was her mother's passion and her passion passed to Sydne as a young girl. Twenty years ago Sydne wrote a children's story and decided to illustrate it. She discovered a software program Meta Creations Painter 5 and this began the journey in digital art. Painter had all the artist brushes, water colors, textures one would need without the clean up. As Painter has grown into Corel Painter 15, so has Sydne in her art and her passion to create. The subject is charming and the colors, with that bright yellow against the cool blues and greens, really pops. VanGogh would surely have approved, not only of your palette but also of the style. Are we looking out a window at a scene here? I feel as if it is just being revealed to us and I like that.

Charming scene. I love bicycles in pictures and this bright yellow and red one is a classic. I especially like the layers in this composition and the way you have managed to show off the bike by setting it against the quiet reflections of the water and at the same time give us the details of the setting by including the village on the other side of the river. Excellent perspective.
