She experiences the joy and sufferings that are repeated in people's lives. She has created her unique world on a variety of her handmade paper using mixed techniques of oil painting, water paintings, wood-block, painting, oil painting,recycle, etc.
Zulay was born in Santa Teresa Del Tuy in the state of Miranda in Venezuela. She graduated from the School of Plastic Arts ' Cristobal Rojas' With a technical degree in pure art ( Caracas, Venezuela) in 1979. Later graduated from the school of graphic arts ' CEGRA' in Caracas, Venezuela in 1981.
There,she learned graphic arts and paper making. In 1992 she studied handmade paper book.
After wards, in 1997 she was invited to The Project ' Artists in Residence 97' in Mino City, Japan.
Zulay Herrera Nakamura has participated in more then 100 exhibitions in Venezuela and other countries throughout the world, such as San Jose de Costa Rica, and Mino City, Japan.
Also, at The Embassy of Venezuela in France and Italy, in Brazil,Germany, USA, Yugoslavia, and more.
As a teacher, she has given classes in middle schools, universities,art schools, and cultural foundations in Venezuela and other countries.
Zulay now resides in the state of Louisiana in which she has participated in many exhibitions.
