Artist's Description

15th July 1940. Hurricanes of 213 Squadron intercepted a large formation of German bombers attacking the aircraft works at Yeovil in Somerset. The squadron lost a single Hurricane to return fire, forcing the pilot to bale out.
The original is relatively small (at 12" x 16") and not as detailed as most of my work.

I'm a former Royal Air Force aviator with over 5000 hours on fighters. Most of my service was as a Qualified Weapons Instructor (Fighter Weapons School graduate in US terms) where one of the many things I taught was air combat. I was privileged to serve alongside some outstanding individuals (US and Brit) in several different theatres from Bosnia to Iraq and lots in between. I've tried to bring that depth of passion and experience to my artwork and have embarked on a project to recreate each day of the pivotal Battle of Britain in art form, to be published in book format in time for the 80th anniversary in 2020. Art has been a long-time passion, but I've only recently embraced aviation art properly, having dabbled in mainly...
