Description
Ring-tailed lemur (Lemur catta) standing in a tree. The ring-tailed lemur is endemic to the island of Madagascar, where it inhabits scrub and forest. Its body grows up to 40 centimetres in length and its tail can reach 60 centimetres in length. Unlike other lemur species, the ring- tailed lemur spends a lot of time on the ground. It mainly feeds on leaves, flowers and fruit, but will occasionally take bird's eggs and insects. It is a social animal living in matriarchal groups of up to 30 individuals. Photographed at Berenty Reserve, Madagascar.
