Description
Viola Compact V. Hybrida is alternately called Horned Violet or Johnny Jump-Up. The Sorbet Series contain Tricolor patterns with cap, face, whiskers and eye colours and are compact early bloomers. Sorbet Marina Baby Face Pansy produces blooms of lilac blue with a cream face, deep-purple blotch and clutch of whiskers. It is sweet beyond belief and fragrant too.
Pansies are biennials typically grown as cool weather annuals. Loving the spring and early summer in the north and the fall and winter in zone 7 and higher. Pansies are useful in borders, edging, containers and other small places that like a pop of color. Pansies appreciate slightly acid, loose, rich soil. They make nice cut flowers for tiny vases. Flowers are edible. Jump-Ups blooms are 1" wide and the plants form a mound 4-8" tall.
