The beautiful and classical Buffalo History Museum used to be called the Buffalo Historical Society, and I actually think the older name suited it better. It is more a place for study and contemplation than it is an actual museum. Whatever you call it, it is a treasure -- the only building left from the 1901 Pan-American Exposition, the only building from the exposition intended to be permanent. I did this sketch at the request from someone who was getting married in this beautiful space. To view the building from this angle, reflected in the water, I stood on a patch of grass next to the ramp to the Scajaquada Expressway. I drew the building in ink, then went home and splashed it with watercolor.
