Description
This is a shoreline of Sherborne Lake looking east from our campsite on September 11th, 2001 (911).Linda and I were starting our canoeing life again and taking it rather easy. We had steak with all of the fixing for our meals. The pattern in the trees and the reflection in the water, caught my eye. The painting is an attempt to capture the feeling without applying a brush to every twig.
This was also the date, unknown to us until the next day, of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre in New York -a horrible affair. It also lends the name to the painting in that although there may be bears and marauding chipmunks that chew into our food packs, this is here I would want to be in any kind of emergency. If it meant the end of the world, I can't think of anywhere nicer to spend the last few minutes.
