This piece is very true to it's picture very defined. The cup itself is of fine quality as well. The story behind it was beautiful to read. When I look at it, it will take me back to the first time that I saw and read the story. Glad I took the time to purchase. No regrets!
Since opening its doors in 1876, A. Schwab Trading Company has been a Beale Street institution. The mercantile stands as the only original business remaining on Beale Street and the oldest store in the Mid-South. Abraham Schwab and succeeding generations of the Schwab family operated the business until 2011 when the iconic Memphis store was sold to new owners. Early business success necessitated a larger storefront along Beale Street. In 1911 the store moved to its current location at 163 Beale, marked by the vintage red neon-lined sign. Schwab's expanded into the neighboring 165 Beale in 1922--displacing a Piggly Wiggly. The two structures still occupied by A Schwab were built prior to 1890 and stand as two of the oldest buildings on Beale. Today, A Schwab Trading Co. specializes in nostalgic items, gifts, and all manner of Memphis memorabilia. "If you can't find it at Schwab's, you're probably better off without it."
