Description
There was a deformation zone approaching from the southeast. The cold northeasterly outflow from an equally cold high pressure area over northern Quebec, was going to keep the cloud out of all but the high stage for a few more hours. Bands of cirrus perpendicular to the cold outflow were clearly evident. The wind stirred the waters of Lake Solitaire and there were white caps in the distance even though the fetch was quite limited.
The colours of autumn were still hidden by the chlorophyll. The different types of trees each had there own comfort zones above the water level. The white cedars at the shore line were replaced by white pines a bit higher up and by a mixture of deciduous trees along the high ridge of Echo Rock. The painting location was very comfortable out of the wind with the sun on my left shoulder.
