This watercolor painting is a pottery still life with old, very well-worn, Mexican pots. I combined them into this setting using several reference pictures that I have collected over the years. In the foreground is an old clay pot with handles and ropes that probably was used to carry water at one time. The green glazed urn is quite decorative with rusted metal bands and rings for carrying. It doesn't seem as used as others so maybe it was a special piece. The navy/black glazed pot also sports a metal band with rusty rings. A colorful gecko decided to come out of hiding from inside the little clay pot, perhaps looking for a little warmth from the sun. I love painting an old adobe wall filled with cracks and blemishes from lots of sunshine and weather that has worn them down over many years, so it seemed necessary to include that here. Old wooden steps that rest on a stone slab at the bottom seems to be very typical of homes in parts of Mexico. The old crumbling brick has seen bett...
