Description
The anhinga is a large, cormorant-like bird, common to southern swamps. The anhinga's feathers are not waterproofed like those of ducks, and can get waterlogged easily. Because of this, anhingas will perch for long periods of time on a tree or snag with wings outstretched to dry out its feathers.
