Along the lonely highway traveling across the Taos Plateau, I had to stop for the setting sun washing over the Sangre de Cristo mountains and hills. The colors that I saw were much more intense than the camera captured. However since so many have complimented this winter scene, I began with the first shot, and will continue having fun rendering some preliminary "sketches," before painting out in my "Holy Ghost Dancer Studio." Here is the fourth, and portraying how the sunset behind me was streaming through scattered clouds.
ARTIST BIO Anastasia Ealy has been a New Mexico artist since 1984. She was raised with the love of the Rocky Mountain west, ranching, horses, farm animals, gardening and mountains. Many summer times were spent on the Nebraska family ranch. Her mother was a Creole from New Orleans, Louisiana, of original French and Portuguese,Spanish,Sephardi-Jew, early 1700's Colonial ancestry. This Spanish heritage, and having lived and painted in Calpe, Spain during the 1970's also gives Anastasia a strong affinity to Northern New Mexico.Colonial heritage, and love for it people and landscapes.
