I was disappointed that the image on this pouch was not very clear. The zipper doesn't work real well, either.

I have seen a Bittern once or twice here in Florida where I live. They blend in so well that sometimes they are hard to see. You do not see them alot here either.
Robert Frederick
Thanks Deborah! I had never seen a Bittern before. From what I understand they are here but not all that plentiful in my area.
Robert Bales
I also think she is correct. Great pose!

Thank you very much Robert!

I believe Deb is right - http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/American_Bittern/id
Robert Frederick replied:
Thank you for the link, as well as the great words, Bob - much appreciated. I have him eating what I think is either a baby bird or a crawdad but not sure I want to post it or if its good enough.
Deborah Benoit
This is a great shot Robert!!! I looked in my bird book "The Stokes Field Guide To The Birds Of North American." This bird I believe is an American Bittern. Google it and I`m quite sure that is what it is. You do not see them alot. This is an awesome capture of this fabulous bird. f/v

This great. You have this bird in all its glory. Excellent separation from the grasses. - v/f It does look like a Green Heron. But you say it was larger than the others. Also the molting is interesting. If I remember correctly you are in the magration area for this bird - I am thinking the plumage should be clean by the time they get there.
