...The rain came down all night,
so in the morning,
the mist still clings to the trees
and in the air,
deep in the Smoky Mountains.
Morning fog is heavy
and sunlight beams
through the mist
into the forest.
This railroad track is
in the Blue Ridge mountains
of North Carolina
between the small towns
of Murphy
and Andrews.
The line is no longer used
but continues to be maintained
in hopes of the train
coming back.
This walk along the tracks
is most interesting,
leading the hiker
over a trestle
and into a rather long tunnel...
