Description
A few days ago we received around 5 inches of snow here in Frederick, Maryland. During the night it changed over into sleet and one could hear it hitting all around, which made me happy to be inside to say the least. But the afternoon before the sky looked like this and I managed to capture a photograph of what I thought was a beautiful sky. I hope the viewer enjoys it also. Of course it is much more difficult now to get this section of the sky due to all the huge houses they are building right along the horizon at the top of this hill, so I have to do a lot of maneuvering to get a photograph without them in it. I would have preferred to get this sky without any trees but due to the location of the new development it makes that almost impossible to do now. Where there use to be a beautiful sunrise at the horizon there are now huge houses scattered across the horizon. The nice stretch of woods that were once there and home to many of the wild life around here have been torn down and many mornings there are small herds of deer resting beneath my apple trees among other animals. I feel so for these poor creatures who are being tossed into a world they are so unfamiliar with and no where to go. And it truly disturbs me to see so many of the wild animals lying dead along the roads now. I know progress will continue and it is needed but at the same time I grieve for the wild life who no longer have the safety of their homes to run to. Yes I know what this sounds like and my husband calls me a Bleeding Heart, but it is sad. The new development is very pretty but it was much prettier to look at when I knew the animals had a safe haven to protect them. But enough of that, I just hope people remember to be kind to our wild life also. I hope the viewer enjoys this wonderful scene of the sky which hopefully progress can not erase. Thank you
