Two red winged blackbirds hover over yellow iris inland from the Georgia coast at St. Simons Island. The preferred habitat of the red winged blackbird are marshlands and freshwater swamps. This is where they nest and breed - and they are sometimes referred to as the "Marsh Blackbird."
