The Blackburnian Warbler (Setophaga fusca), a member of the family Parulidae, is among the most colorful of warblers that breeds in southern and eastern Canada and in the northeastern United States. Migration is south in the eastern parts of the United States, Mexico, and Central America; non-breeding populations are found in northern parts of South America. This small warbler measures about 5.0 inches in length and about 0.34 ounces in weight. The breeding male has a brilliant orange throat fading to yellow on the belly, dark auriculars, white mid-wing panel, paler orange supercilium and nape, and a dark crown. Preferred foods include insects which it gleans on small branches generally high in trees, and occasionally fruit.
