Description
Blantons Single Barrel Bourbon - Red Warehouse H
Down this pathway, walking between the large rikhouses and taking in all the wonderful aromas of the thousands of aging barrels of Bourbon in them, you will arrive at the Blanton Red Metal Warehouse H. It is in this red warehouse that Blantons Single Barrel Bourbon (my personal favorite) goes through its aging process. This warehouse and the small bottling room where all of the Blantons is bottled, by hand, is found on the Buffalo Trace Distillery property in Frankfort, Kentucky. A most fantastic place to visit, take a tour or two, have a nice lunch, pick up some gifts and of course sample some of the finest Bourbons made in Kentucky.
The Blanton Red Warehouse H is the only metal clad warehouse to be found at the Buffalo Trace Distillery. Red Warehouse H is also one of only a few rickhouses in the world to be built entirely out of metal. Being of metal construction, the rickhouse does not have any significant insulation properties and as such all of the barrels stored inside are exposed to far more aggressive temperature and humidity changes than takes place in a traditional wood or brick warehouse. The resulting Blanton Single Barrel Bourbon is just outstanding.
Buffalo Trace Distillery is the oldest continuously operating distillery in America. During Prohibition the distillery was even permitted to remain operational, to make whiskey for medicinal purposes. We have been there many times and have always enjoyed our visits and taken in all of the new improvements and features that are continually being added the distillery and have never left empty handed or unhappy.

Great capture of color, light and dark subject matter - nice composition where you want to see what's around the bend, and what's going on behind all those windows!
