The print is much darker in person. It looks like an underexposed photo and hard to make out any detail on the bottom half of the print. Paper quality is good. Fast shipping.
Artist's Description
Along West Rim Road on the way to Hermit Rest this is the first viewpoint. The view includes the Bright Angel and El Tovar Hotels. In the distance within The Grand Canyon National Park you can see the smoke from a "Controlled Burn" managed by the Forest Service. By burning off brush within the forest, it helps to prevents bad forest fires. Reducing the fuel, burning leaves, pine needles, and brush that clogs the forest. Then if a fire is started by lighting strikes, etc, it is easier to control them with less fuel on the ground, so fires do not spread as fast.

I was in my early 30s at the time, and it was difficult then - but an adventure of a lifetime.
Bob and Nadine Johnston replied:
Heh, in my 30's could have done it easy. Just back from climbing the mountains in Korea for 23 months. Hiking from Pusan to the Yalu River w/full field pack and Browning Automatic Rifle which weighed 22lbs with ammo. Could leg press 437lbs then. 8>)

Always wanted to do that, but when it was physically possible, did not have the time. By the time we retired, had the time but then it was not physically possible. Have hiked down into the Canyon several times, and back out the same way. Flown into it in a Helicopter tour.

Bob, I hiked across the Canyon on the Bright Angel Trail a number of years ago - this sure brings back memories - great shot! voted
