Description
View of a burned out plaza and car in the village of Oradour Sur Glane in Haute-Vienne, France. During World War II retreating German SS troops massacred over 600 innocent men, women and children, then set the town on fire. The scenic and once prosperous village had a tram that carried residents to work in the nearby city of Limoges. Those residents working out of town were the only survivors of this massacre.
French President Charles DeGaulle ordered the site preserved as a memorial to man's inhumanity to man.

Such a sad history of the horrors of war - so glad this site was preserved - and even happier that you gave us a permanent reminder. Just love it in sepia. Fav'd.

underlying story is so tragic. well-chosen rendition and appropriate decision as to the post processing, Jurgen.
