Description
Cardiogenic shock. Artwork of a heart failing in a case of cardiogenic shock. This condition is where the ventricles of the heart fail to function effectively, and the resulting inadequate circulation of blood leads to the heart tissue gradually dying. This can be caused by a variety of earlier events, including a heart attack, irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia), cardiac valve disorders, heart muscle conditions (cardiomyopathy) or an aortic dissection. The bubbles here may indicate sudden depressurization that causes air bubbles to form in the blood. The condition has a high mortality rate.
