This statue is the symbole of Coyoacan.
COYOTL HUA CAN "place from where the praise of the coyotes..." N�HUATL
According to a local legend, a coyote used to bring chickens to a friar who had saved the coyote from being strangled by a snake. Coyocan was founded by the Toltecs in the 10th century and later settled by the Aztecs, aka Mexica /mesheekah/.
Walking through Coyoacan, we could imagine how it might have looked in the early 1900s.Today, Mexico City has sprawled to encompass the once lush vegetation of Coyoacan's tree-lined streets with colonial homes and museums, cafes, boutiques, restaurants, art studios and local artesanos that create a certain ambience and charm.
