Devonshire Hillside was taken in the heart of the county of Devon, England. The landscape here extends over rolling hills and sweeping vales and is covered in small fields that are criss-crossed by dividing hedges, giving that quilted look. Trees pop up along the hedgerows and the occasional cottage competes for attention. Clouds scud across the sky, creating nebulous shadows over the land. I have presented this photograph in black and white because monochrome emphasises the geometry of the summer scene - the lines, shapes and tones of Devon.
