Don't leave me by Karen Cook - Imagine living your life, minding your own business, raising your children on your farm and then one day....soldiers come to your community and round up all the men and boys over the age of 10 and tell them you are all being deported. Imagine the fear, the horror and the pain.

Although it sounds like the plot of a movie from Hollywood or in some case, ripped from the headlines of the papers around the world today...it happened. Here in Nova Scotia in the 1700s as English soldiers forced the French Acadian settlers to leave their lands behind. The farms were burnt to the ground, the families forced into boats, some separated forever as they left for the Caribbean, parts of America and beyond.
