The Aerial Lift Bridge (earlier known as the Aerial Bridge or Aerial Ferry Bridge) is a major landmark in the port city of Duluth, Minnesota. The span is a vertical lift bridge, which is rather uncommon, but it began life as an extremely rare transporter bridgethe first of just two such bridges ever constructed in the United States. Originally built in 1905, the bridge was upgraded in 192930 to the current lifting design and continues to operate today. The bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 22, 1973. A maritime museum maintained by the United States Army Corps of Engineers exists near the site of the bridge. I liked the reflection in the water that remained on the walkway from an earlier rain in the day.
I have been taking photographs since my Mom gave me my first camera for my 16th birthday. Sure wish we'd had digital way back then. I have no formal training but people tell me I have a good eye. I enjoy taking photos of just about anything, but prefer landscapes and nature photography. I also enjoy using the available filters in Paint Shop Pro. Even Ansel Adams fiddled with his photos by using exacto knives and chemicals. :) If you would like wording added to any of these images, or a color image in black and white, or a black and white image in color, please send me an email through this site, and I will be very happy to customize for you. Thanks for viewing my work.
