Three P-47 Thunderbolts of the 8th Air Force's 4th Fighter Group based at Debden, England, wing their way towards Germany in October 1943. From near to far they are: Flight Officer Jack Raphael in his Eager Beaver, Lt. Louis 'Red Dog' Norley in Red Dog, and Capt. Lee Gover flying Miss San Carlos.

This is the first of my large 'Gallery Series' drawings, where I 'revisit' some of my past paintings, with maybe a bit of redesign as necessary. The original 'Eagles of Thunder' was painted in 2003.

Wade Meyers spent his early years at Fort Bragg, North Carolina before his family moved to Bossier City, La. when he was ten years old. Fulfilling a dream, Wade soloed a Cessna 150 at age 17 and went on to earn his Commercial and Flight Instructor pilot certificates. After high school, he earned a B.A. in History from Louisiana State University in Shreveport while serving in the US Air Force Reserve at Barksdale Air Force Base. With marriage came a move to the beautiful Birmingham, Alabama area. Diving in head first, Wade quit his job at an aviation museum in 2003 and began to work full-time as an aviation artist.
