I bought this as a gift for my daughter and she loved it. The tuxedo cat painting was beautifully done. The blue and purple background was perfect to showcase the artist rendering of the cat.

Congratulations on your sale!

A beautiful location for a sad slice of life! Escape was impossible for those poor souls who toiled in the baking heat. I understand that in some plantations - though not necessarily al - the slaves even had a form of gag made of metal and placed inside their mouths to prevent them from eating the sugar cane. How evil is this! There was truly no escape for them, as the Ocean is an insurmountable barrier except in dreams. The fact that these structures were made of wood and not of brick shows that they would have offered only minimal protection against the elements and sanitation would have been very primitive. Good that they have been preserved as a reminder of the past. History is a stern schoolmaster!

Greetings Dominique, thank you so much for viewing Evergreen Sugar Cane Plantation Slave cabin Quarter in Wallace, Louisiana, the historic slave cabins are in fact resemble the Acadian French settlement structures. There are beautiful structures. Some of those structures in Lafayette and St. Martin also have second floors with the stairs leading to the second floor from the porch area for sleeping. It pleases me this photo appeals to you and brought back memories and I appreciate very much the generous comments and L, fav, cheers from Nawlins, and Happy Holidays!!!
