I noted that the color came out differently on this size of bag, it is distinctly more purple. I happen to love that color also--the larger size has perfect color, exactly like the photo. I love both of my bags.
This painting was one of 4 I did of Boston while my mom was in the Portsmouth Regional Hospital recovering from her hip surgery. My siblings and I took turns spending days and nights with her at the hospital. She wanted to go to sleep at 7pm so I took my canvas and paint into the bathroom for light and painted on the floor. Where there’s a will, there’s a way, I guess.
Debra Bretton Robinson grew up in Plaistow, NH and received her degree from the Mass College of Art in Boston. She and her family reside in MA. Debra is now a participant in the vibrant Lowell, MA art scene. Her acrylic paintings on canvas concentrate on the natural landscapes and architecture of New England in vibrating colors. Most of her work is done "en plein air" or on site, outdoors. Frequently her scenes are painted while on her “floating studio”, her husband’s boat, while he fishes. Her style borders between representational and abstract. The colors and lines of her paintings are inspired by Matisse during the Fauvist movement.
