A great egret (Ardea alba), also referred to as a great white heron, flaps its wings while fishing in a harbor on beautiful sunny day in Florida. They are a member of the heron family and have a wing span of up to 55 inches. They fish only during the day and have been known to steal fish from smaller birds. They forage solo or with a mixed flock.
