Path to the Cascades is one of a number of hand-colored lithographs I did of this beautiful forest on the way to the Cascades in the Jefferson National Forest in Giles County, Virginia. The hike to the actual Cascades is two miles and it is mostly up. I hiked this trail many times and swam under the falls. The water is extremely cold but it feels great after the hot walk. In this one I tried to emphasize all sparkling green colors of the foliage that was lit up by the strong sunlight filtering through the scene. I will always remember those hikes with friends and I will certainly go there again sometime. I am especially pleased with the cool greens in this one.
