I bought this as a gift for my daughter and she loved it. The tuxedo cat painting was beautifully done. The blue and purple background was perfect to showcase the artist rendering of the cat.
Knossos has been called Europe’s oldest city being originally settled as early as the Neolithic period, the final stage of the Stone Age, 10,000 – 4,000 BC. The palace is located south of modern day Heraklion not far from the north coast of Crete.
Sir Arthur Evans is responsible for restoration and preservation of Knossos starting in 1901. Controversy surround restoration, some of it damaging, yet had it not been started would perhaps have been undiscovered to the world. To date, much is left to the historians and scholars as to the authenticity and relevance of the sites being excavated.
The Heraklion Archaeological Museum is considered one of the best in Greece and best in the world for Minoan art. Minoan is named after the islands mythical king, Minos. Displayed are wall painting,metal objects, pottery, carved stone objects and various assortments of pieces found in mansions, settlements, sanctuaries and caves, representative of the time.
