I absolutely love this photo of Hazel. My first visit to the Smoky Mountains was in April 2017. I have been searching for a black bear photo for years and this one stole my heart. This beautiful girl was photographed the same year. I am very pleased with the canvas print!!

Artist's Description
HOWARDSVILLE COLORADO
After the cry of gold went up in California in 48 the famous rush of 49 was on. The El Dorado didnt pan out for all, and men began looking for other fields. By 1860 gold and silver strikes were turning up in many different places. The distance didnt matter. Many prospectors followed the cry from one place to another. That is why you will read in history many of the same names in different localities of the west. Such was true of Colorado. Gold and silver were discovered in the beautiful San Juan area in 1860 but because it was Ute territory, it wasnt opened up until the Brunot treaty of 1874. Wild mining camps such as Howardsville, Middleton, Eureka, Animas Forks, Mineral Point, Chattanooga, Red Mountain Town, Gladstone, Bandora and others sprang up. These ghost towns are well worth visiting but as most of them are higher than 9,000 feet, plan to go only in the summer. In the painting is the Little...

This is a well done powerful painting and I can feel the age of the timeless mountain behind. The picture has a sadness and a desolate feel. You are a very good artist .Wish we had some ghost towns here--we have only pioneer cottages which are slowly disappearing. I always feel sad, and like you just have to paint them.l
