Humpback Bridge, built in 1857, located just west of Covington is the oldest covered bridge in Virginia, Originally part of the James River and Kanawha Turnpike, this bridge spanning Dunlap Creek is the fourth at the same location. The bridge is four feet higher in the center than at either end, thus the name.
