Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….
San Diego County : Anza Borrego Desert State Park
Hellhole Canyon Trail is one of my favorite spots to watch clouds pass in San Diego County's desert region. There you get a clear view looking north to the dramatic rise of layered mountains surrounding Palm and Henderson Canyons. On a partly cloudy day, contrasting patterns of light and shadow offer a dazzling display.
My first taste of photography was (seemingly ages ago) while taking an intro to photography course. There we learned the basics of shooting, darkroom development, and print with film. In following years I carried my Cannon AE-1 all over the world taking pictures for fun and memories. Upon an introduction to DSLRs, my devotion to photography exploded given the new possibilities I found for manipulating and personalizing images. What feeds this passion is the emotive capacity of art – its ability to evoke strong reactions from viewers. I could spend hours sifting through and losing myself in the work of Eugene Atget or Michael Kenna. Some consider deserts too barren and austere. I on the other hand see a delicate landscape revealed by a luminous light that is found nowhere else. No bucolic scenes for these eyes, it's barren and austere for me. Well done William!
