Love this duvet cover in the Tree Fort Suite of the Elk View Lodge, Fernie, BC, Canada.
The little blue macaw, is a macaw native to Brazil. Spix’s Macaw, also known as the the little blue macaw, has been considered extinct in the wild since the year 2000. Deforestation was the top cause of the bird’s extinction. Of the 160 Spix's Macaws alive today, all of them are are captive birds. The Brazilian government has enacted project araomja-Azul designed to restore these birds to the wild. They are waiting for enough breeding birds and a suitable habitat to begin the restoration plan. “The Little Blue Macaw,” is a mixed media digital image and photo composite created in Spadecaller’s Florida studio.
Spadecaller is an experienced traditional artist, who creates original hand-painted digital images and photo composite artworks. In the late fifties at eight years old, Spadecaller started formal training in traditional oil painting.Through considerable personal sacrifice, his mother nurtured his artistic talents and provided him with the tools to launch his creative journey. Spadecaller attended The School of Visual Arts in New York City (1970-71), and during the 70's up until the late 80's, he exhibited acrylic and oils in Montreal and New York.
