Description
The Reine landscape is one of the most beautiful and photographed in Norway. It is characterized by its steep mountains, colorful rorbu fishing huts, and crystal-clear waters. Reine at sunset or sunrise is off in the distance, tiny colorful homes at the base of the mountains. In January sunrise and sunset occur withing minutes of each other making a tiny circle on the horizon, so this view with the clouds overhead was very short.
The village of Reine is located on the western side of Moskenesøya, one of the Lofton Islands. The landscape is dominated by the Reinebringen mountain, which rises 600 meters (1,970 feet) above the village. The mountain is a popular hiking destination, offering stunning views of the surrounding area.
The fishing huts in Reine are a distinctive feature of the landscape. They are painted in bright colors, such as red, blue, and green, and they line the shores of the fjords. The huts are used by fishermen to store their gear and fish.
The waters around Reine are home to a variety of marine life, including cod, salmon, and halibut. Whale watching is a popular activity in the area, and it is possible to see orcas, humpback whales, and minke whales.
The Reine landscape is a truly stunning place.
You might think this is a black and white photo, using a photographic processing called selective color, but this photo is full color on a dark and stormy day. It became glorious when the sun made just a small arch over the horizon for a short period if time at noon. All the colors hidden behind the cloud bank.
