Very pleased. I like the deep purple with this image. But, the edge could have been a little sharper.

Almost perfect. Other companies, have the requested picture on both sides of the coffee mug, not just one. Other than that - Perfect. Thank you.

The same. Having a picture on both sides of the mug would be better. Even at a small additional charge. Thank You.

This piece is very true to it's picture very defined. The cup itself is of fine quality as well. The story behind it was beautiful to read. When I look at it, it will take me back to the first time that I saw and read the story. Glad I took the time to purchase. No regrets!

Artist's Description

A mask for correcting crossed eyes, from 1583. The mask was developed by Georg Bartisch (1535-1606), who was born a peasant near Dresden, Germany. Although he was not rich enough to pursue formal training in medicine, he became a successful barber-surgeon and frequently operated on patients to remove cataracts. He devised this mask to treat crossed eyes (strabismus). The eye slits were positioned in such a way as to force the eye muscles to assume normal lengths and tensions. This illustration was published in Bartisch's "Ophthalmodouleia Das ist Augendienst," 1583 (Treatment of the Eye), a 16th century medical text that was apparently dictated to a scribe, since Bartisch could not write.
