This looks gorgeous printed on wood. It is now hanging on my therapy office wall and is perfect. The color is true to the photo. I love it.
Artist's Description
Considered one of Hawaii's most historical and sacred places, the Iao Valley was the sight of the 1790 Battle of Kepaniwai in which King Kamehameha the Great conquered the island of Maui during his quest to unite the Hawaiian Islands. The Maui warriors retreated into the sacred Iao Valley believing their ancestral spirits would give them aid but to no avail. Dammed from fallen warriors it is said the stream ran red from the blood spilled that day hence the name Kepaniwai meaning 'the damming of the waters'. In the background is the iconic Iao Needle rising 1,200 feet above the valley floor and approximately 2,250 feet above sea level.
**Photographers' note: With the RB67 ( Medium format ) and tripod mounted in the Iao stream, a total of six hours, sitting waist deep, with on and off rain, waiting for what was to be only a 20 second window of light in which to capture the image.
