A vintage Italian movie poster of ''Moby Dick'', a 1956 film directed by John Huston, based on the classic novel of the same name written by Herman Melville in 1851. The movie is a dramatic adaptation of Melville's epic tale of obsession, vengeance, and the primal struggle between man and nature.
The story revolves around Captain Ahab, portrayed by Gregory Peck, who commands a whaling ship called the Pequod. Ahab becomes consumed by an all-encompassing and monomaniacal obsession with hunting down and killing the giant white sperm whale known as Moby Dick. This enormous whale had previously bitten off Ahab's leg during a previous encounter, leaving the captain with a deep-seated desire for revenge.
