I caught some of the 1st blooms of the season on this chickaswa tree during the magical time just after sunrise. When everything is fresh and early morning dew clings to trees and flowers. The dew is still heavy on the petals of this blossom. And there is just enough sunlight to highlight the dew, producing the appearance of glass flowers blooming on the tree. - Julie
Prunus angustifolia, known commonly as Chickasaw Plum, Cherokee plum, Florida sand plum, sandhill plum, or sand plum, is a plum bearing tree native to North America. It was originally cultivated by Native Americans before the arrival of Europeans. Chickasaw plum grows 12 to 20 feet tall and 15 to 20 feet wide in an irregular shape. It is "twiggy" in nature, and has a scaly, almost black bark. Its branches are reddish with a thorn-like, small side branches. In February, March, April and May, small white flowers blossom, 8�9 mm wide, along with red plums, up to 25 mm long. The flowers have five white petals...

Photography started as a hobby when I found an Osprey nest in a parking lot. I watched and photographed the babies as they grew. I Followed them until the nest was empty. After they were gone I started taking photos of other wildlife. In a very short time what was a hobby quickly turned into a passion. I love nature. What could be better than finding something neat?
