Dartmoor Ponies on Dartmoor National Park, Devon (UK)
Although all belonging to one of the hill farmers on Dartmoor, ponies roam free on common land
Here a mother pony protects her foal from the wind
For me, there is no better place to be than on Dartmoor – my favourite place to go

The Dartmoor Pony is breed of pony that lives on Dartmoor England. It has been there for centuries and is used in a variety of roles. Because of the extreme weather conditions experienced on the moors, the Dartmoor is a particularly hardy breed with excellent stamina. Over the centuries, it has been used as a working animal by local tin miners and quarry workers. It is kept in a semiferal state on Dartmoor. (Wikipedia)..............
Dartmoor National Park is a vast moorland in the county of Devon, in southwest England. Designated as a National Park in 1951,it is a vast tract of largely untamed countryside of huge richness and diversity stretching across 368 square miles. Dartmoor ponies roam its craggy landscape, defined by forests, rivers, wetlands and tors (rock formations). Trails wind through valleys with Neolithic tombs, Bronze Age stone circles and abandoned medieval farmhouses. The area is dotted with villages, including Princetown, home to Dartmoor Prison used during the Napoleonic Wars. (https://www.dartmoor.gov.uk/)...............
