on Jekyll Island,
captured on Driftwood Beach...
This huge old oak tree
was uprooted by storm
and tide surges and lays
like a sun-bleached soldier
on this very interesting sandy beach.
The sand is wet
by the outgoing waves,
glowing at low tide,
reflecting the pretty blues
and pink colors of dawn.
The sun is just above the horizon,
it's rays casting a gold glow
over the branches and trunk
of this gnarled tree.
The clouds are colored
in shades of pink
and the sky above is crystal blue.
This beach is often called
Roots Beach by the locals
on the southern coast
of Georgia...
